My roommates and I rang in the year at our new apartment in Inwood, hosting a housewarming and NYE dance party. With an enormous Christmas tree in the living room, the place felt packed. We drank champaign, made pizza bites, formed a Soul Train line for showing off our moves, even took the party up to the rooftop.
We had a blast!
Then the first day of the year also happened to be the last day of Word Up's indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, for which I made multiple music videos. We started the day still about $2500 away from our goal, but we refreshed our internet browsers countless times, watching the donations trickle in throughout the day. Finally around 5p we crossed the threshold, immediately making plans to celebrate.
Various news outlets found out about our successful campaign rather quickly and made their reports, but let it be known that Led Black's Uptown Collective was first out the gates. We've also been featured in the Daily News, DNAinfo, Racked NY, Shelf Awareness, and a local ABC News affiliate! Surely there are more to come...
Here's the ABC segment, which features one of the music videos I made :D
