1) GioSafari At Your Request
Round 4 ends today, your last chance to nominate songs for the second annual At Your Request cover album project (click here to see and join the facebook event page)! Then, for the first two weeks of July, I'm putting all of the finalists up for a vote in a DEATH MATCH, right there on the facebook page. After that round ends, the ten songs that come out with the most votes will be recorded for this year's cover album!

On Wednesday, June 20, I took a bus to Philly and then carpooled with some Circle of Hope peeps to Greensboro, NC. We were all headed down for Wild Goose Festival, the 2nd annual event focusing on the intersection of spirituality, art, and justice. It was held last weekend at Shakori Hills, where I reunited with many old friends from last year.
This time I was in charge of the waste management crew (I've been promoted! Click here to see my report from last year) and spent much of my time at the fest in that capacity. But I also played tunes at the open mic events and even got onto one of the main stages on Saturday night! I also stayed on Monday to help with breakdown and to play by the large celebratory bonfire.
3) Simple Songs for Simple Living
On Monday night I snagged a ride to my friend Zach's house in Burlington, NC, not far from the camp site that played host to us wild geese. Zach (of Lost Trail) and I have since been brainstorming and recording the foundational tracks for my first-ever full length album, tentatively titled Simple Songs for Simple Living.
I'll be here for at least another week and a half, laying down much of the material for this album, which is over a year and a half in the making. Next week I'm having some nearby guest musicians and friends - including the illustrious group from Occupy Raleigh - come in to the studio to sing gang vocals on some of the tracks. Anyone who lives in or near Burlington is welcome to join us! Click here for more info and to rsvp.
That's it for now! Like I said, I'll probably write more about all of this and surely a lot more about the fact that I'm at a huge existential cusp ..::head explodes::.. you don't even know!
