Super Pug to the rescue! My pup gives a major head tilt to the campaign.
There's just one day left to join our #singupward choir! But there's also a good bit more to raise before we reach our goal.
I'm realizing daily that while $1500 is a ton of money for just me or any one of my family, friends or fans, it's really not that much in the grand scheme of things. The US spends a couple billion dollars every day on the military alone. What we're after is only a tiny fraction of that.
I'm convinced that there are enough people out there who can get behind a message about peace and justice; enough folks who would support a bookshop that brings knowledge, art, and LOVE to a community in need.
We just have to reach those people in the next 24 hours!
Here's a new sneak peek video that I finished yesterday, starring Frizz the 1976 VW bus. Please post this everywhere and let's get the peacemakers and justice-seekers out of hiding. Let's spread the message of this video far and wide. And let's recruit scores more people to the #SINGUPWARD choir!
The #SingUpward campaign is entering its final week and I want to remind you all about the great perks in store for you when you join our effort!
Even donations as small as $1 will earn you our utmost gratitude, but there are also albums, DVDs, one-of-a-kind works of art, and even music lessons up for grabs at varying levels of contribution. Please see all the perks below and join the #SingUpward choir today!
Hello friends! As you may have seen, I'm producing a music video this summer. Please check out a new sneak peek, a glimpsed of some footage that we've already recorded.
In the video, we're going to turn this empty storefront into something really special. But if you want to see what it's going to be, then we need you to support our campaign on IndieGoGo, now through July 31.
Please check out the page today and join our chorus as we #SingUpward!
So I just received a private message from someone near and dear to me, regarding my emotions in the wake of the George Zimmerman trial.
You seem distressed. What exactly is it about the Martin/Zimmerman decision that bothers you? The jury affirmed, based on all the evidence provided, that Zimmerman killed Martin in self defense. Florida law provides for such defense, making the killing lawful, and therefore not murder.
I haven't had much a chance to really vent on this whole matter, so I kind of unloaded on her.
You're wondering why I'm upset that an innocent, unarmed, young black man was killed? Why are you so goddamned ambivalent about it?
Zimmerman stalked Martin, provoked a fight, and then killed him. He is facing zero consequences for this. And is now a free man again. He probably has his gun again. Who knows who he will kill next in "self defense"? Do you really think I care what Florida deems lawful or unlawful? Do you know or care who Marissa Alexander is or that she's going to prison for 20 years? Frankly, you should be ashamed for not being distressed and bothered about all this.
Please don't ever talk to me again about this situation, unless you completely 180 on your position. You can have your opinion, I just don't want to hear it - especially if your assertion is that I should not feel some kind of way myself. Because I do feel some kind of way. So deal with it.
Sorry for the hostility. I just truly, honestly, can't believe what you just said to me. Honest.
And to all other persons whose stomachs aren't turned by last night's decision, the same goes for you.
Everyone, meet Frizz.
Frizz, meet everyone.
Frizz here is going to be the co-star for the Sing At The Top Of Your Lungs music video! We are super stoked to work with her and her owner.
Here's some more info about our her:
She's a 1976 VW bus, ASI Riviera Campmobile (not Westfalia, these aftermarket campers were retrofitted by a company in Oregon, not Germany).
4 cylinder 86hp.
The color is Safety Orange, the same color as road signs, Home Depot, road cones, etc. She blends in well with municipal plow trucks. Her owner has taken photos of her next to things that are the same color...
She sleeps 5 comfortably and 6 in a pinch. There is a bench seat that fits about 2-3 folks and a rear facing jump seat that faces rearward and folds. She also has a sweet table that mounts to the floor, painted in chalkboard paint with chalk pictures all over it.
Sufficed to say, we couldn't be more excited to be working with Frizz and I'll be sure to post lots more photos and updates about how she'll be featured in the video over the coming days! In the mean time, you can watch our storyboards and just imagine how amazing this video will be with her in a starring role!
This summer I'm producing a music video for one of my original songs. Please check out our indiegogo campaign to find more info and/or contribute to our project. We need your help!
I'm very pleased to announce that we've completed animatics for the Sing At The Top Of Your Lungs video! My good friend and fellow crew member Alex Velazquez, filling the roles of director, editor, and storyboard artist, has been working hard the past couple weeks on the story boards and animatics.
See the result below, along with a synopsis of the story.
I meet my drummer in front of a storefront and enter to find it totally empty. Imagining what this empty space - this blank slate - might be in the future, I set out to find like-minded people to help me build it.
Leaving the city, I begin writing a song about my journey until we spot a hitch hiker with a rather unusual destination.
We pick him/her up and continue on our search in and around the city, running into folks trying to reach PEACE and JUSTICE.
Next we see someone who is trying to get to VIOLENCE. Though some in our number are reluctant to pick this person up ::cough:: PEACE ::cough, cough:: COMMUNITY insists that we must learn to coexist with people who think differently than we do.
VIOLENCE joins our team.
We continue driving, finally picking up ART and KNOWLEDGE. I finish writing my song as we ride back to the empty storefront. We all climb out, eager to turn this empty space into something different. Something beautiful. When VIOLENCE steps out of the bus, we see that s/he has scratched out his/her sign and written LOVE in its place. I throw my arm around his/her shoulder as I step out of the bus and proceed to the store.
We all work in this space until it's turned into a book store and cultural center, a place that espouses all our values - community, peace, justice, art, knowledge, and love.
We've worked together to arrive at our destinations!
We hold a concert in celebration, to sing together at the top of our lungs.
If you like what you've seen and read here, if you think that this message is an important one to spread, then please consider supporting our campaign on indiegogo! In order to make this video, we need to raise a lot of money that we simply don't have ourselves. We need our family, friends, fans - any and all like-minded people - to join us in this effort!
No contribution is too small and you can cool perks, no matter how much you give to the project! Please watch our campaign video for more info and help us to spread the word...
Here's the link for the indiegogo campaign, that you can post to facebook, twitter, google+, reddit, etc.
