I began meeting with my good friend and colleague, Alex Velazquez, to hash out the idea for the video and draw up storyboards. He had created the album art for both Protest Songs (Are Dead!) and Heliotropism; I'm always impressed by his work and I knew I could count on him if we collaborated together. So I signed him on as director and editor for the project.
Next I pitched the idea to DJBoy, a fellow volunteer at Word Up.
We not-so-jokingly consider DJBoy the archivist at WU, since he's always there with a camera, taking photos and shooting video of events. He shot lots of great footage as we packed up the old location on Broadway and ultimately used it to put together the video for our Indiegogo campaign last fall. I knew he would be our best bet for cinematographer and I was stoked when he agreed to join our small team.
We've crunched some numbers and figure that we'll need about $3500 if we are to complete this project. But we'll need the help of our friends, fans and family if we are to reach this goal! So we've created an indiegogo campaign to raise funds and we need your help to spread the word!
If you can make a financial contribution yourself, that's great! But even just some help to get the word out is great as well! Here's the link for the indiegogo page, please spread it far and wide!
And here's a facebook event page you can join and invite your friends to!
Normally this perk won’t come til the $40 level. So if you are among those first ten people and actually give $40 or more, I’ll give you two copies of the album – one for you and one for a friend!
Thanks so much for your support in this, I know we can do it together :D
