For the past couple months I've been planning my November and December tours. In order to beef up the bill, I recruited a great folk/punk musician from Cocoa Beach, Noah Eagle. His sister then agreed to drive us round the southeast for the tour which we had already begun booking. We plan to hit the road for three and a half weeks, playing as many as twenty cities in Florida, New Orleans, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. These shows will mostly be FREE to attend, held at DIY venues: houses, coffee shops, clothing/book stores, and parks!
We plan to capture on video as much of the fun as possible, to then compile, edit, and release on DVD for everyone's viewing pleasure. I did this on my Vagrants & Vagabonds, Outlaws & Thieves Tour and I was very pleased with the result:
On this tour, however, there will be more characters, more camera men (and woman), more people crammed in a small car for extended periods, and therefore - I predict - many more shenanigans and MUCH more great footage!
Noah and I are still in the throes of booking and have already made great strides. Once that is over with, it's on to finding couch surfing hosts and dealing with any other logistical issues that may arise. You can rest assured that we'll be working ceaselessly to make sure this tour is a success, up to the day we hit the road.
Once we do, the expenses will quickly begin to accrue: gas, maintenance, food, and miscellaneous expenses. In order to have higher quality video, I'll have to get a new camcorder, since my still camera doesn't always get the job done.
Another $250 is going towards a workshop I've volunteered to bottom-line at the SOAW Vigil at Ft Benning. I will be teaching about how to better serve, love, understand, and minister to the homeless in our midst - a discipline which I have been honing for nearly five years now. You can read more about that here:
The total comes out to a little over $1500, so I rounded down. We will need at least this much just to go out on tour with a camera. Nevermind the countless hours Noah and I are putting in to booking, planning, and eventually editing and releasing the footage.
As some of you know, I began teaching free lessons in NYC, October 2010. Indeed, I have begun to see my whole life and work as free to the universe - and to you. Rather than a financial transaction made with other people, this is more an existential transaction I'm making with God. I pray that the invisible hand of the free economy (that is, His goodness and provision), will supply all my needs. You can be a part of this!
For every donation amount, there are rewards to be won. Please check that out for a chance to win very sweet goodies! And remember: EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS. Even a dollar helps us along our way and is very encouraging! And we would really appreciate your donating here, if you plan to come to a no-cover show. I want you to know that I truly appreciate your friendship, love, and support. Endeavors like this would be impossible without you. So please help us make this possible!
Peace and love,
