I've had to embrace some ideological/practical contradictions here and there (indeed, I've found that it's impossible for one to live in this society with his or her honesty, integrity, and conscience fully in tact), but I'm happy to report that I'm discovering some tools to make the contradictions more bearable - even less contradictory.
Please find below some venues where you can listen and download my music for free! And if you care to help me put food on the table, you can also make a donation where applicable. Thanks in advance!
I've been using this website for a few years now. It's a great way for independent musicians to promote their music and offer downloads to their fans for tips (fans may opt not to pay anything at all). I've always used it primarily for singles and EPs, but I've also used it to spread my At Your Request albums far and wide. Volume 2 is still available on my noisetrade page now. Get it!
If you use Spotify, please find my albums Heliotropism and Protest Songs (Are Dead) and listen to them repeatedly! I did the math: every time one of my songs is played on Spotify, I earn approximately $0.003; so every time you listen to Heliotropism, I earn three cents! Indeed, it would only take 13 people streaming my music 24/7 each month in order for me to pay rent! I realize that this isn't going to happen, but... well, every little bit helps.
The best way to support me and my music, by far, is by downloading my tunes from bandcamp. Similar to NoiseTrade, I allow my fans to name their price. But bandcamp has also set up pages for fans so that they can interface with their favorite artists and even support them just by being a fan. You can find a ton more info at their homepage, but sufficed to say that bandcamp is changing the way that artists share their music, support themselves, engage their fans, and connect with other musicians; it's also changing the way that fans enjoy music and support their favorite artists. So it's definitely worth checking out! I invite you to start by downloading Heliotropism, creating your very own fan profile page, and discovering tons of new talent.
So there you have it, my consolation for having succumbed to Capitalism. I do hope that you enjoy my music (no matter how much you pay for it, if anything at all) - and that it might provide a suitable soundtrack for embracing your own contradictions, whatever they may be.
